BACH IN BARGEMON
After an absence of three years, Germany’s iconic female artist, Elvira Bach, returns this summer to the Beddington Fine Art Gallery in Bargemon,Var, bringing with her a superb selection of recent works !
The ennui of twenty years of Berlin nightlife was dispelled by a lengthy and rewarding visit last year to America, which not only revived her personal enjoyment among the young of the vibrant New York Scene but inspired her to create a magnificent series of nightlife-related canvases. Where we see her cavorting amongst the young adrenalin-filled crowd thronging New York’s most fashionable nightspots.
These new works set a fresh trend to the œuvre of Elvira Bach, already justifiably renowned for her sometimes bizarre, but always provocative; imagery, in which she characterises herself, often ironically, in a multiplicity of guises ; notably as the erotic seductress, adorned with every possible accessory - lipstick, jewellery, stilettos ;and, conversely, as the kitchen diva, both as an European and, when she so chooses, from the Dark Continent, in either case confronting with equanimity a mountain of potatoes or bearing on her forceful head a tottering accumulation of saucepans !
