1980 Scholarship at
the Villa Romana, Florence
1981 Initiator and
organiser of the exhibition ‘Rundschau Deutschland’ (presenting the
works of Adamski, Bömmels, Dokoupil, Fetting, Kippenberger, les Oehlen,
Schultze,Szczesny and Zimmer) in Munich and in Cologne where he moves
his studio.
1982-83 Prix de Rome
and scholarship at the Villa Massimo, Rome. Numerous trips to Italy and
particularly to Sicily, exhibits in Capri with Bernd Zimmer.
1984-85 Travels to
Poland, the United States and Tunisia
1985-88 Publisher of
the art magazine ‘Malerei, Painting, Peinture’, an important forum for
artists of his generation. Meets the ceramicist Peter Thumm in 1987,
the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership. In 1988 during a stay
in the south of France, develops a very personal technique of ‘plein
air painting’
1990-93 Travels to
the
Caribbean : Barbados Jamaica, St Lucia and Mustique; start of an
important series of paintings on a striped background which will be
pursued for numerous years.
1993 Carribean style,
Neue Galerie Linz. The important series of portraits (Portraits Dumont
Kunsthalle, Cologne and Kunstalle Bremen) dates also from this period
as well as the first great projects of Art in Architecture.
1994 New studio in
New York
1995-99 Numerous
realisations of art projects in architecture as well as important
retrospective exhibitions of ceramic vases, vessels and of works
created on the Côte d’Azur.
