LES OLIVIERS DE RENOIR To coincide with the Var’s 10th annual ‘Art et Vin’ Programme, Château L’Arnaude in association with Beddington Fine Art near Lorgues, Var, are delighted to exhibit at this well-known wine domaine the spectacular series of numbered digital images of Renoir’s magnificent and ancient olive grove captured by the artist’s great-grandson, the photographic artist and film-maker, Jacques Renoir. These artworks are also published in book form so as to illustrate the emotive poetry of René Latapie.

Situated on the ramparts of the mediaeval village of Bargemon in the South of France, Michèle and Guy Beddington are dedicating their entire 2006 Schedule to internationally-reputed female artists, each representing one of The Four Seasons:

16 April – 17 June 2006

SPRING ushers in the sumptuous and gently sensual oil paintings of CONSUELO CHILD-VILLIERS, whose four years’ training at the Accademia di Belle Arte in Florence and the contemporary approach she applies to her eternal subject matter combine with her rather exotic Anglo - Irish and Italian - Spanish ancestry. These influences are apparent from her acutely observed mythological references , with luxuriant feminine forms interacting with the purity of line and movement of wild animals, to mimosa bursting forth against an azure sky : all carry the individualistic hallmark so instantly recognisable in Consuelo’s work.

SUMMER’s vibrant heat and climatic extremes leave no half measures jolting us into either whole-hearted admiration for or perhaps uncomfortable confrontation with Germany’s leading female artist, ELVIRA BACH, whose raw and erotically-charged acrylic and sculpted self-portraits proclaim her overt, and sometimes self-mockingly humorous, sexual confidence.

AUTUMN benignly succeeds the excesses of summer, and the cornucopia of abundantly decorated crystalline-glazed stoneware by Britain’s leading lady Studio Potter, KATE MALONE takes the stage, for the first time in France with specially commissioned one-off pieces, individually decorated moulded sculptures and delightful smaller moulded multiples, a feast of Nature’s bounty for our eyes, embellishing our rooms with her unique vision and augmented by a selection of works by several of her former students now successful in their own right and working in different parts of the world.

WINTER and Scandinavia appropriately provides our last artist Inge Hørup offering mysterious quasi-abstract figurative paintings , and ceramics. Quirky sometimes lighthearted, her curious female faces unlock her destructured universe where symbolic birds prompt us to question her metaphoric vision.
We are also delighted to welcome as guest of honour Etiyé Dimma - Poulsen whose painfully beautiful mixed media sculptures reflect directly her Ethiopian heritage. We are immersed in the colours, the heat, the smells, the cracked baked earth from which springs the exotic, seductive woman yet humble and pure taking us full circle...
